#Proud2Be Project

The #Proud2Be Project was co-designed with young people with lived experience and aims to educate, raise community awareness and challenge stigma and discrimination that exists for culturally diverse LGBTIQA+ young people.

The 12-week project featured a series of capacity building sessions designed to support the young people to explore the experiences of LGBTIQA+ young people from culturally diverse backgrounds to:

  • gain skills and experience in film production
  • build their communication and social marketing skills
  • develop resources including a short video and accompanying support posters.

Young people involved in the creation of this short video acknowledge the importance of the love of family and acknowledge a young person’s ‘found family’, people who aren’t related but who can protect and trust each other who provide great comfort and support when needed.

The #Proud2Be Project was supported and funded by the City of Greater Dandenong, and the Victorian Government through the Healthy Equal Youth program and was filmed and produced by Momentum Studios Australia.
