COVID -19 Support for Young People

Youth and Family Services are available to support young people during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery. It is not unusual to feel anxious, sad or frustrated by the way COVID-19 has, and continues to, impact our lives.

Our youth workers can help provide general advice about positive wellbeing strategies and help you to access other support services if required.

Contact Youth and Family Services on 9793 2155 or email youthservices@cgd.vic.gov.au for more information or to access this support.

Youth and Family Counselling

Youth Services provides free and confidential counselling and support services to young people aged 12-25 who live, work, study or have significant connection with the City of Greater Dandenong.

You might need to seek support and counselling for many different reasons. Our youth and family counsellors and youth support workers offer a safe and confidential space for you to talk about your concerns and get information and help when:

  • you may be feeling a bit confused about a situation that you're in
  • you need help with issues such as self-esteem, family breakdown, anger and aggression, grief and loss, stress, to name a few
  • you need information and support for things like accessing other specific services - drugs and alcohol, Centrelink, legal issues and many others
  • you are having problems at home
  • you want someone to talk things over with such as sex and sexuality, relationships, bullying or school issues

How we can help?

We offer free and confidential counselling where you can talk about anything that may be bothering or stressing you out, including: relationships, family conflict, school issues, mental health issues like depression and anxiety and much more.

Your youth and family counsellor can see you either on your own or with your family.

How can I see someone?

Making a time to see a worker is easy. Contact the team on 9793 2155 to make an appointment. Appointments are provided Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

You can see us alone or with your family. Family, schools and other agencies can also contact us for information or to refer a young person to our service.

If you have any questions or would like more information telephone 9793 2155.

What about my privacy?

What you say to a youth and family counsellor or youth support worker is private and confidential. No one outside of the Youth Counselling and Support team will have access to this information.

However, if your worker is worried about your safety or that you or someone else may be in serious risk of being hurt then your worker has the responsibility to tell management and ensure everyone’s safety.
